Switch 2

Loop Switch 2

Led the product design engineering team on switch 2. This included leading six mechanical engineers over the course of the project and leading acoustic design with an external partner and internal acoustic engineers. From first sketch to the product in our warehouses only 10 months passed.

Explore phase we made sure we all aligned on directions for design, User and engineering. Because of the high pace of the project. We needed to allow all disciplines to run in different direction but we set clear deadlines to make decisions and move the project forward as fast as possible. During this phase I facilitated brainstorms, aligned the team on the priorities and managed off site mechanical engineers.

During the conceptualise phase, I implemented the AGILE way of working (using Monday.com), which also helped managing the off site mechanical engineers, which had a 9 hour time difference. Main focus of this phase was product architecture, testing subsystems and critical TA’s to get an OK2 soft tool.

Project required me to deep dive into acoustics and de-risk the project by keep different options open in soft tooling.

During the develop phase I went to China to follow up the alpha build on site and make product architecture decisions on site. Which due to the high pace of the project was necessary, as we needed to take calculated risks to go as fast as possible. I also reviewed jigs and assembly process on site.

Loop Switch 2 was also used for the succesful campaign with McLaren during 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship.
